( Q ) Can I get a card if I don't live in Lamar County?
( A ) Patrons living outside of the Lamar County service area are eligible for a library card, but will not be able to access our eBook collection. Children 15 and under must have a parent or legal guardian present when signing up for a library card. Young adults age 16 and older may get a limited-use library card independently, but a parent or guardian must come in to the library to authorize changing the library card to full access.
To sign up for a free library card, you must visit any Lamar County Library System location and provide one form of identification for each applicant and one proof of address. You may join the Lamar County Library System for free even if you do not reside in Lamar County.
If you wish to get an Internet-Use Only library card, you only need identification.
Any person may use materials in-house. To check out materials (or to carry materials out of the library), patrons must obtain a library card.
